Upscale Jeweler Transforms Showroom with D-LED & Future Lighting Solutions

MONTREAL, QUEBEC (August 25, 2010) –New solid-state under- and in-cabinet fixtures that are 1/10 the height of comparable non-LED luminaires have helped transform an upscale Israeli jewelry store with sleek new showcases featuring a more open appearance, better product lighting and 85% lower power consumption. The fixtures – built with LUXEON® Rebel LEDs – have reduced electricity costs by $1,300 per month for Royalty Jewelry’s 430-square-foot boutique in Tel Aviv’s Ramat Aviv Mall.

The Source Linear System fixtures were created by D-LED Illumination Technologies in collaboration with LED solution specialist Future Lighting Solutions. Their ultra-slim 49mm wide x 24mm high (1.9” x 0.9”) profile – stemming from the small LUXEON Rebel package plus D-LED’s no-secondary-optic design – shaped the open look of Royalty’s new showcases by shrinking the amount of wood trim required to conceal the interior lighting apparatus.

The new luminaires have also eliminated the jeweler’s problems with previous cabinets, including uneven light distribution, poor color quality, frequent bulb replacement, and high heat generation that scorched the wood and made the jewelry too hot to touch. Special engineering in combination with the small LUXEON point source produces a uniform beam spread over an exceptionally wide 100° x 110° angle, evenly illuminating merchandise without hot spots.

Future assisted D-LED in the fixture design by supplying sample LEDs from different bins to identify the optimal color temperature and color rendering combination for the application. Future also provided extensive engineering support, including optical simulations to determine the light spread of D-LED’s proposed design, on-site light readings to measure the light output, and expert input on issues ranging from heat dissipation and board assembly to driver electronics.

D-LED’s Source Linear System luminaires are available in multiple lengths and three color temperatures, and usable in environments including retail, kitchens, bars and hotels. A detailed case study is available at www.futurelightingsolutions.com.
